Some Monday mornings, it’s more like Rainy Days and Mondays always get me down Not this Monday. It was a very busy, very tiring weekend I wish I had a little more time to rest, but I am looking forward to the day. Hoping for a productive week, professionally and personally. Common Denominator

A president, at least forty astronauts, Nobel Laureates, Pulitzer Prize winners, Academy Award winners and my son. What is their common denominator you may ask, Eagle Scout. One week ago today, my son successfully sat for his Eagle Scout Board of review. It was the culmination of a long journey that involved him earning thirty-one merit badges, serving as the Senior Patrol Leader for his troop for two terms, working with Cub Scouts as a den chief to pass along the skills that he’s learned, making great friends and having lots of fun. I am very proud of my son. I’m also pleased that the achievement of his Eagle Scout rank will show the world what those of us who know him already know, he’s an exemplary young man.

Thanks to my friend Joan, I have been crushing all over again on my childhood pop idol, Les McKeown. of the Bay City Rollers. Being the mother of one son and involved in Boy Scouts. I often find squealing girls annoying until I realized watching YouTube that the Bay City Rollers make me squeal now. Besides crushing I’ve got an idea for a story too so that’s doubly good. Thanks Joan. So here’s my crush clad in plaid in his youth and not bad looking these days either.

Musical Memories – A Confession

I have to confess. I cut. I am guilty of what I refer to as emotional cutting. You know those songs that leave you feeling like you’ve been punched in the stomach or kicked in the teeth. Usually I try to avoid them. But every once and awhile, I have to subject myself to the pain. The first notes of those songs will start and I know how I’m going to feel but I keep listening. My heart aches, the tears sting my eyes, I wallow in the pain. I’ve shared a couple of those songs. Right Here Waiting for You and One More Day there are others too, but today I am sharing the one that cuts to the bone. It’s another song about the one that got away, the man that I thought was my soulmate. The one that I was willing to put up with pretty much anything just to be with him. It’s been over 20 years now since I’ve seen him and I have gone on with my life but, every once and awhile I have to listen to songs like this one and take myself back there and feel that pain again, When it was good it was really good. This song pretty much sums it up.

Sometimes, I have to work a bit to find the appropriate number of pictures for the shirtless days. For Becks the problem was narrowing down which ones to use. I understand why Soccer is one of the most popular sports in the world With players like Beckham running around and ripping their shirts off. Ohhh my.

Musical Memory – With an Odd Twist

My Author friend Jillian Chantal (check her out at www.jillianchantal.com) does soundtracks for whatever she is writing. The other day I was in her office and David Soul’s Don’t Give Up on us Baby was playing and I told her I was going to have to use it in my blog. I am a firm believer in giving credit where credit is due. Anyway… The reason this musical memory is a little bit odd is because of the memory in evokes. Here’s the song

So it’s a sweet song. Yes it is about a couple on the verge of breaking up but it’s not morose, do you think it makes me think of love even unrequited love? Ohhhh No. It makes me think of the movie and book that scared me the most. Salem’s Lot. It’s not a complete stretch David Soul was in the movie.

I was 13 years old and that movie terrified me.

Those boy vampires scraping on the windows wanting to get an invitation to come into the house…oh my goodness. I had to sleep on my side with my back to my window because I thought they were going to be there.

So a sweet love song sometimes send chills down my spine. The mind is a strange thing.

Musical Memories – Halloween Edition

Okay so it didn’t come out at Halloween but it was truly one of the spookiest music videos ever made. The one and only, the late great Michael Jackson and Thriller are the topic of my Musical Memory today. The video came out in November 1982. I was sixteen and a junior in high school and Michael was the King of Pop. Life was good. The next year “The Making of Thriller” came out and we watched it at school. Repeatedly it seems like during exam week when we had more down time than we needed. So let’s go back folks, let’s take a ride in the musical time machine and go back to 1982. Here it is THRILLER:

So I started looking for material by googling Horror Movie Hotties. It did not take me to anything that fit my criteria. So I had to search a little harder. Rather than B-Movie Bimbos let me give you some hot horror movie heroes.

Let’s start with Johnny Depp in Nightmare on Elm Street.

He was totally hot and taken out way too soon for my tastes

How about Jeff Goldblum in the Fly.

He was hot. Admit it ladies, before his transformation he was hot.

Kevin Bacon in Friday the 13th We never had camp counselors as hot as he was.
